The journey of the once and future wizard begins almost at its end. Professor Judah Zelig, a speech teacher, has felt compelled to write a novel about
Merlin. This unremarkable man would soon discover that his writings were actually a remembering of his true identity and purpose. For Judah and Merlin,
or Merlanu as he was known among the elves that helped train him, were the same. The truth, he discovered, about Merlanu was older and stranger
than anyone knew. This is the story of a rebel band of angels who took human form and ruled this planet as gods. Their leader became known in Greece
as Zeus, who was opposed in his plans by Poseidon. Poseidon genetically manipulated a Greek King, Theseus, to become the greatest wizard of all time
with the power to defeat Zeus and restore order to Gaea-Earth. Merlanu was not just to crown a ruler, but to awaken the gods of old who have taken
human form. These gods, who now make up most of humanity, were forced into the Karmic cycle because of their greed and lust with the hope that they
may be redeemed and then reminded of their true purpose and power as angelic beings. Merlanu alone remained free of the cycle to accomplish this
task; however, he succumbed to his own lusts in Camelot. Because of that, he endured a series of deaths and rebirths until at last he awoke in modern
times with the help of a strange old woman, his soul mate and his elven grandchildren. But did he awaken in time because Zeus had his own plans to
defeat Merlanu and remain in control of Earth.
Author Tom Averna weaves into his tale of The Once and Future Wizard many secrets of the origin of the universe and man. He has combined ideas
presented by Zachariah Sitchin, as well as Kabbalah, New Age and New Thought philosophies. However, the most exciting revelations were the ones that
came to the author while writing the novel. You will have to decide for yourself if they are truth or fiction.

spirit beings that came to Gaea were those that created this system’s
sun and originally they came to play and enjoy Gaea’s beauty. At first,
Gaea enjoyed their company, but soon a group of these Spirits decided
to stay and experience a physical life here. After attempting several
forms, they began meddling with the life that already was forming here
and in doing disrupted and distorted evolutionary path intended by
Gaea.

chronologically, but after writing about the first 500 years, I became
very anxious to tie it all in to Merlanu’s modern day existence. I began
to rewrite the novel using the vehicle that modern Merlin’s reawakening
happens through his writing as Professor Judah Zelig, his modern
incarnation, begins what he believes is a fictional story. He gradually
remembers and/or is told the truth that his fictional writings are
memories that must reawaken for him to complete his mission along
with his soulmate with whom he is reunited in this life. This alternated
one chapter the modern day and one chapter Judah’s book, but that
felt unwieldy, so I finally decided to keep it in the present with hints of
the past until Judah’s is put into a magical sleep to reawaken his past
memories. During this time, we will view his origins and history with him.

Disclaimer:
Choosing the genre for this was very difficult. Fantasy purists will most likely take umbrage at this
being in the Fantasy genre because it is not completely set in the world of sword and sorcery. I
plan for Book Two to come the closest to that.
It is not Historical Fiction because I am not much concerned with getting historical data precise;
although, I don’t believe what we know about history is necessarily accurate. History is generally
edited and written by the victors. Unless we have eyewitnesses, we cannot know for certain that
what has been passed down is entirely accurate. And even eyewitnesses can be biased, So
could the Hebrews have gotten their start as Pharaohs in Egypt. Maybe.
It is also not a religious work, although, I would like to believe it is deeply spiritual and offers a
melding of many philosophies and beliefs, but will any one belief lay claim to it? Perhaps not. I’m
sure there are ideas and concepts in here that some will disagree with. Still, when I wrote this
work, I felt very strongly that I was guided in the writing of it. It was a time of deep meditation,
and I was surprised at the direction it would sometimes go.
I guess if I were to make up a genre to best describe my work it is spiritual historical fantasy. It is
how I fantasize the world was and will be. It is what I believe best explains how we got to be who
we are and where we are and what we must do to save ourselves from the greed and corruption
that threatens us and our beloved planet. It is the feeling that I want to act positively and yet it is
so much easier to act negatively and I don’t understand it. I believe Sitchin's and my adaptation
here best explains that knowing that we were not allowed to evolve emotionally and spiritually
when we were forced to evolve physically faster than normal.

Planned Trilogy Summary
Book 1, The Awakening, we are introduced to Judah Zelig, a professor of speech and philosophy
at Colorado University in Boulder. He has completed a book on positive communication and has
been given permission to teach it at the College. He is also working on a novel about a wizard who
was created to save the world – a retelling of the Merlin story. What he doesn’t know is that this
story is not fiction, but a remembering of who he is. Eventually he discovers the truth after reuniting
with his soul-mate Abigail, who has been with him through many lifetimes. He is also helped in his
remembering by a strange old woman who turns out to be someone very special.
Judah is then must climb a nearby sacred mountain where he is met by the dragon form of Hermes
and three Elven rulers. Their job is to awaken the memories that have been suppressed to keep
others from discovering who he really is. Using magical techniques, the elves and Hermes
reawaken the memories of a Greek King, Theseus allowing us to follow the life of King Theseus
from his adventures with his good friend King Pirithous to his meeting of Poseidon on New Atlantis
where his true purpose is revealed as a genetically modified human destined to save the Earth and
the god-humans from destroying themselves. In Atlantis, Merlanu learns the truth about how the
Universe was created,how man on Earth was recreated in the image of these “visiting” gods, and
the power that threatens to destroy everything if it is not put right. And so he begins his training
with the Elves to accomplish this destiny and become the greatest wizard of all time.
Book 2 The Wizard’s Journey will take up the story of Merlanu as he is trained by the elves and
several other races to become the great wizard. This book will give us a detailed view of Elven life
and customs and Merlanu will participate and help win the last great battle of the elven and reptilian
nations establishing himself and his Elven wife as rulers and guides of the Elves. Merlanu then
moves through history until he finds the one he believes is destined to be anointed by him in Britain
to lead the gods out of their forgetfulness. But a serious mistake in judgment, lust and ego forces
Merlanu into the Karmic cycle and forgetfulness. And nearly costs him the world he is to save.
Book 3, A Wizard For All Time, returns us to the present following the journey of Abigail who, after
reuniting with her soul-mate Judah-Merlanu, was tasked with assembling others who will enable
them to complete his mission. She has been doing this with great difficulties while Merlanu is away
rediscovering his past. Merlanu will rejoin the group and begin teaching the truth to the many
communities of followers he founds who will attempt to transform the world under the control of
Zeus who is trying to maintain his power over this world. Merlanu will find and crown the ruler and
we will have the final battle between the forces of Zeus and the forces of Merlanu-Poseidon with a
few surprise partners added in.
